About Trysten
Trysten grew up moving every few years: “home” is everywhere and nowhere. Now based in NYC, her coloratura soprano voice and musical theatre degree have made her an invaluable collaborator in opera-MT hybrid spaces.
In 2022, Trysten made her Principal Artist debut with Utah Festival Opera & Musical Theatre where she sang the role of Laurie Moss in Aaron Copeland's pastoral opera, The Tender Land. Her "brilliant vocal performance" was praised for its sensitivity and nuance. "Her lovely soprano voice easily carries through the music with precision and clarity. Her voice is like a songbird as she sings [...] and shows her mastery of vocal technique as she carries the emotion of her heart break with striking dynamics." While in Utah, she also advanced as a finalist in the Michael Ballam Vocal Competition. Previously, Trysten has had the pleasure of performing in a wide range of operas, musicals, childrens' theatre, and theme parks in Boston, NYC and Orlando.
Being raised in so many diverse environments (China, India, and Panama, to name a few) has given Trysten a foundation of steady adaptability and elegant self-reliance, which have been major incubators for her natural vocal talents. A polished musician and quick study, Trysten elevates every rehearsal—bringing your vision to life with zero ego and experienced empathy.
Though she be but little, she is fierce—and always warm.
